Sleeping Beauty

 

Harriet is a very sleepy baby, which has been wonderful for Keith and I as we are staying pretty well caught up on our sleep as well. Here are some of my favorite sleeping poses. 

 

 

Painting

One of Estelle's new favorite things is painting. I picked up some finger paints and some brushes before Harriet was born, but we didn't start using them until last week. It was fun to watch her play and she stayed entertained for a good 20-25 minutes at the table with her new activity. I can tell this is going to be a frequent activity for us while I'm on maternity leave.

 

Playground

After Harriet was born, we came home on a Friday. That weekend we were already out of the house on Sunday with Estelle to take her to the playground. It's definitely a different experience coming home with your second child. In many ways I feel more relaxed and confident caring for our newest addition. But I also find it more of a challenging balancing act to make sure Estelle is still given some special time and attention. So with Harriet being less than a week old, we ventured out to the local playground.  Keith and I took turns playing with Estelle and Harriet just enjoyed the beautiful weather.  

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Towel Hoodie

Estelle loves bath time, but has recently fought us when drying her off afterwards, especially her hair. To solve this problem I started putting her towel on her head and letting her run around with it. It has become one of her favorite things and she frequently wears it as a cape and has also started taking it with her during nap time and using it as a blanket.

Big Sister

We tried to prepare Estelle for the arrival of a new baby sister by playing more and more with her dolls. She has been consistently carrying her dolls, giving the bottles and pacifiers and trying to dress them. Here she is putting her shoes on her witch.

 

 

And here she is putting her lamb in the bassinet.

 

Here she is trying out the baby chair/rocker and the infant car seat with Minnie. I'm sure she was just making sure they were safe for Harriet.

Harriet Rose

Our newest addition to the family is already two weeks old. The transition from a family of three to a family of four has gone pretty smoothly. It helps to be surrounded by wonderfully supportive friends and family. We definitely couldn't have made such an easy transition on our own. Keith and I are trying to stay caught up on our sleep and have been mostly successful. Estelle is still getting used to having a baby sister here all the time, but is doing well.

 

Here's my belly shot the morning she arrived.

 

Our first pictures of our little Harriet. She was born at 10:41am on June 3, 2014. She weighed 8lb 3 oz, which was exactly the same as Estelle and was 20 1/4" tall.

 

On our way to her first check-up after leaving the hospital. Everything looks good. She's gaining weight and sleeping well. We have another happy, healthy baby girl on our hands.

 

Pants On My Head

Keith started playing a game with Estelle months ago when changing her diaper. He would put her pants on her head. This game has continued and now that Estelle has started to help dress herself, we end up with moments like this.......

 

She actually got the tights out of the bin in her room and put them on all by herself, then walked out to show us.
